We understand this is an overwhelming time. Take a deep breath – you don't have to do everything at once, and we're here to help you through each step.
If the death has just occurred, there's no immediate rush. Take time to be with your loved one if you wish. Stay still and when you're ready, move to the next steps.
Call us first at 0151 928 1625 – we have a funeral director available at all times.
We'll guide you through everything that needs to happen and take as much of the burden as possible, allowing you time to collect your thoughts.
If the person who has died is at home or in a nursing home a suitably qualified medic will need to verify the death has occurred before we can transfer them into our care.
A doctor will need to certify the death.:
You'll need to make an appointment at the Register Office. Don't worry if you can't do this immediately, you will need to take some personal items with you.
If the death was unexpected, sudden, or occurred in certain circumstances, the Coroner may be involved. This is routine procedure and nothing to worry about – we'll support you through this process if needed.
Your first call to us is often the hardest. Once you've called us, we'll be with you every step of the way.
