Funeral Estimator

Direct Cremation

Simple, dignified, and affordable - giving you complete flexibility

Direct Cremation

From £1,600
Direct cremation is a simple, dignified option without a traditional funeral service. This choice is increasingly popular for those who prefer privacy, simplicity, or plan to hold a memorial service at a later date. Despite being our most affordable option, we maintain the same high standards of care and respect. Your loved one is cared for in our funeral home, and you can arrange a viewing if desired as an additional option. The cremation takes place at a time chosen by ourselves, without attendees, and the ashes are returned to you afterwards. This allows complete flexibility in how and when you choose to remember your loved one, whether through a memorial service, ash scattering ceremony, or private family gathering.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we still have a memorial service with direct cremation?

Absolutely. Many families choose direct cremation specifically because it allows you to plan a memorial service or celebration of life at a later date, in a location and format that feels right. This could be in your home, a favorite location, or any venue you choose.

Can we see our loved one before the cremation?

Yes, we can arrange viewings at our funeral home for an additional fee. This gives you the opportunity to say goodbye privately in a peaceful setting.

How long does it take to receive the ashes?

Typically, ashes are returned within 7 working days. We offer an express service if you need them sooner.

What happens during an unattended cremation?

Your loved one is cremated at a time scheduled by the crematorium, without family or friends in attendance. However, the same care, dignity, and respect is shown as with any cremation service. We will tell you the date and time of the committal at the crematorium.

Can we scatter or keep the ashes?

Yes, the ashes are yours to keep, scatter, bury, or place in a memorial location of your choice. We can provide guidance on scattering locations and memorial options. Or if you prefer we can arrange for them to be scattered in the garden of remembrance in the crematorium.

Is Direct Cremation right for everyone?

Direct Cremation is a personal choice. It's ideal for those who prefer simplicity, want to plan their own memorial, or are on a limited budget. However, if a traditional funeral service is important to you or your family, we offer comprehensive bespoke options as well.
